Artist statement
When I was a you kid I always liked setting up chairs and pretending that I was getting married to a stuffed animal. But now that I’m getting older it’s becoming more of a reality. But I still have dreams of how I want my wedding to go. So, when I picked the word fascination I began to think of the future like what I could dream of that could become a reality and I thought Jobs, marriage, just life in general. So, when I was creating my sketch book I asked myself some questions like. Can fascination be a dream? Or can it be something that we want to happen to us? I just asked myself these questions. Then I got the idea of marriage.
How I planned to take this picture was that, I had three original ideas. My first idea was to have a guy with a ring box proposing to a girl that has her back to the camera so all you have to see is the guy’s expressions. Another idea is the couple is both standing up at the alter and you can see the happiness on their face as they both look in to each, others eyes and you can just feel the love and the emotions My last idea was them walking in to the sun set and making all weary as they go and start a new chapter in their lives. But what I did instead was get a symbol out of each idea. So, for the first on I just picked a ring box with a ring in the box That symbolizes the new bond between the couple, my second an alter with chairs because that symbolizes the happiest time in a couple’s life, I took the weariness for that because I wanted to make it seem like a fascination.
The day i photographed this photo it was over cast day. Which was perfect because it made it more realistic. I brought out the wooden chairs because i felt that would make it more rustic and more fall so then. I put the flowers leading all the way up to the alter making it more dramatic. And i had a table acting as the alter and i have a ring on the table making it look like the couple is ready to have a wedding. I was making sure that i got a lot of perspectives so you could see the dream come in to a reality. Then when i went to edit it i was thinking that i wanted it to be a weary and dreamy so it made you think you were there in that time.
This photo is what manys dream of happening as a child so i wanted to bring that dream in to reality.
